Alocasia Botanically known as Alocasia amazonica from Araceae family. Common name are Elephants ear, Alocasia amazonica, Kris Plant, African mask plant etc. It is a genus of broad-leaved rhizomatous or tuberous perennial plants. This plant is famous for its unusual and unique alien-looking leaves with deep green leaves accentuated by whitish or light green leaf veins. GROWING TIPS
Alocasia grow from rhizomes, which can be divided in spring for more plants. Each rhizome produces several leaves that grow to 1 ft long, making Alocasia a new accent for your home.
Plants like to grow in bright light but not direct sunlight. So, Set Alocasia in a bright location and keep it warm all year. With good care, you'll enjoy this exotic house plant a long time.
A room humidifier and frequent misting of the leaves will give it the moist air it craves. Regular misting also helps to keep away mites that are attracted to dry condition.
Re-pot in spring when necessary. Use a container with drainage holes to prevent soggy soil, which can lead to root rot. Give your plant a rest period in winter, allowing the soil to become almost dry between watering and stop fertilizing.
Clean the leaves with wet cloth once in a week. Remove any damaged/diseased plant part & discard it away from planting area.

PLANT CARE
LIGHT CONDITION - Can grow in Indirect Bright light or Semi shade or Indoor but not Direct sunlight.
WATERING SCHEDULE - Remember Over water can kill your Alocasia plant. Water when the top soil(2-3 inch) feels dry to touch. Moderate Watering(in every 3-4days).
SOIL TYPE - The soil should be well drained, fertile and rich in organic content.
TEMPERATURE - The average temperature should be 18-24 Degree Celsius.
FERTILIZER APPLICATION - Apply any organic fertilizer once in a month and stop in winter. Do not forget to water your plant immediately after application of fertilizer.
PLANT PROTECTION - Remove dead, infected or damaged plant parts and discard them away from the plants. Generally it is not affected by any pest or disease, in case of any infections, you can use Neem oil spray for primary treatment.
INITIAL CARE FOR 10-15 DAYS JUST AFTER RECEIVING YOUR PLANT
Remove the Packaging Materials carefully.
Press the soil in the pot & add additional soil(garden mix) if necessary.
Maintain moisture in the pot, Do not over water it may kill your plant, so make sure that the soil should be dry between watering.
Make sure that plants get enough morning direct bright light(2-3hrs) for 10-15 days & do not go for immediate transplanting (minimum 1 month)
You can remain the plant in the same pot for 6-7 month, later you can transplant it in slightly bigger pot than the present.
Just prune if any branch of the plant is get damaged in transits. New leaves will come definitely.
